Deep in the heart of Texas...no, make that Sweden.

Monday, 12 April 2010

Much like in the deep south of the U.S., in the deep south of Sweden, the people have a an accent. And much like in the deep south of the U.S., most of it is charming to hear and some of it is just plain awful. And with some of it -even to those who speak the language- they really have to listen to understand. I am sitting in the midst of a group of ladies that speak with a HEAVY scanian (skansk) dialect and am understanding it. Grandma has the heaviest accent, I have heard, maybe ever. It sounds like she has a large potato in her mouth. And yet, she is understandable, which makes me kind of giggle. It seems my Swedish has moved to a higher level.
