Bikes=Freedom

We celebrated my youngest b-day here in Sweden today. It was a combo party for him and my sister-in-law's boyfriend. My little guy scored a whole new round of legos (thanks!) and croquet. And both the kids got bikes which means freedom for them. They can bike to the park, around the neighborhood, the library and the store. It is actually much more accessible that way than with the car. Sweden, like most of Scandinavia/norther Europe is bike riders heaven, putting our city in the States (known for being bike friendly) to shame. There are bike paths EVERYWHERE. They are well maintained and you don't have to compete with traffic. They are wide which is more than I can say for the roads. It is comparatively flat as a pancake here so even my youngest who is a wee bit shaky on a bike can bike with confidence. Thank you, thank you, thank you to my sister/father in law for making the arrangements for them to have them. They are pure freedom.
